What happened to the Dynamic Perception NMX app?

The original Dynamic Perception NMX apps are no longer updated and don't run on modern phones. Timelapse Maestro is an independent companion app that controls the Dynamic Perception NMX rig from current iPhone and Android devices.

Will it work on my Stage Zero or Sapphire Pro?

If your motion rig is driven by a Dynamic Perception NMX controller that pairs over Bluetooth as DP-NMX, Timelapse Maestro talks to it. That is the same controller used across the Stage Zero, Stage One, and Sapphire Pro sliders. It controls sled, pan, and tilt plus the camera shutter.

Do I need new hardware?

No. There is no new hardware, adapter, or dongle to buy. Timelapse Maestro talks to your existing Dynamic Perception NMX controller over Bluetooth, so the rig you already own works as-is.

Does it work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes. Timelapse Maestro is a single cross-platform app for both iPhone and Android, connecting to the Dynamic Perception NMX over Bluetooth Low Energy on either platform.

How much does it cost?

Timelapse Maestro is free to download, and live joystick control is included. Program Mode, the full programmed-move workflow on real hardware, is a one-time in-app purchase. No account or subscription required.

The official apps for the Dynamic Perception NMX haven't been updated in years, and phones have moved on.

None of that is the rig's fault. Timelapse Maestro is a new app for the same hardware.

It's built by an NMX owner, not by Dynamic Perception. The project started as a way to get one rig working again on a current phone and grew into a full replacement app.

What it does

Everything the original app did, plus a few things it never could.

Built around the firmware's quirks

The NMX firmware can lock up if it receives the wrong command at the wrong moment. We reverse-engineered the safe command sequences from the original app and the open-source firmware, so long runs finish cleanly.

Works with the rig you own

If your controller pairs over Bluetooth as DP-NMX, Timelapse Maestro talks to it: sled, pan, tilt, and camera shutter, on iPhone and Android. There is nothing new to buy.

Three-axis live control

Independent sled, pan, and tilt with a live joystick and slider that doubles as a dead-man's safety hold: let go and the rig stops.

Programmed moves

Set start and end points, travel time, and lead-in / lead-out, then let the rig run the move on its own while you watch the scene.

Smooth ramping

Per-axis easing (linear, parabolic, or inverse) so acceleration looks natural on screen instead of mechanical.

Real-world units

Calibrate your gear and rig once and work in millimeters and degrees instead of guessing at raw motor steps.

Survives dropped connections

Mid-run Bluetooth reconnect with dead-reckoning keeps a long timelapse on track even if your phone briefly loses the link.
